Being Me: Week 30

July 21, 2019

"Usually, when the distractions of daily life deplete our energy, the first thing we eliminate is the thing we need the most: quiet, reflective time. Time to dream, time to contemplate what's working and what's not, so that we can make changes for the better." ~Sara Ban Breathnach

Being Me: Week 30 Abundance

July theme: Bold stripes, bright stars, brave hearts

Over twenty years ago when my father passed away, our Aunt Joyce was in town and shared with my mom, sister and I the book  Simple Abundance, by the above quoted author. This book provided the promise I needed  to live again. Daily verses or short stories unlike anything else I had read which provided a window towards hope. I still have my copy and enjoy returning to those simple daily reminders.

That book so many years ago ignited a joy in daily guide posts, words to frame each day in a positive, mindful way. Since that book over 20 years ago I continue to structure my mornings with these simple messages of hope, joy and renewal that come with a daily practice.

Simple abundance is the act of noticing the everyday things we sometimes take for granted. And as we pack up our house with its 25 years of memories each photo reminds me of those long ago days where life felt so simple.

I think after loss we always wish we had done something differently, but I am starting to learn that things happened the way they were supposed to so that I could learn and grow through the process. And I need to forgive myself for what I did not know before.

Making time for me to reflect in the quiet provides direction to navigate through all the seasons of life.

Beautiful post, and I agree that loss helps us learn through experience. Still hard lessons, though. Good luck with your move! xoL
