Morning comes whether you set an alarm or not...
Week 2: One Day at A Time
2026 Word: Bloom
Goal: 12,000 Steps
Book: Atomic Habits
Oh, how frustratingly slowly time dragged when you were a child. The anticipation of everything feels like torture. Now, the day slips through my fingers and before I know it, I am ready for bed. I knew I wanted more from life than the daily ritual of work. I knew I needed to unearth time for myself.
And so, I created a morning routine to help slow my mornings and create a series of fulfilling chores. By starting to wake earlier I found the quiet hours of dawn could provide the perfect foundation for my journaling. Using that time with intention taught me to love the ritual, excited to wake each morning for this treasured time. I cling to this ritual, using this time to savor the joy I find in creating, knowing the day will unraveling quickly.
Recently, amid a cleaning burst, I was captivated by a book I haven’t noticed in years. Life is a verb by Patti Digh, it was released in 2003. The premise is about 37 days of intention, which captured my attention after losing my brother at 37 in September of that same year.
Perhaps, as Digh says, we can recognize our way out of patterns rather than repeat our way out. Sometimes it is not about the great big things, but instead a focus on the little things that bring you joy, that make a life, tiny steps that fill our hearts.
So much of life is spent blaming others, instead of looking within. We can inspire the change we are seeking by changing the ways we see the world. To pursue purpose and direction, we must be present, not just ground hog day on repeat. It is time to be creative and reveal the things that are fulfilling.
