Make yourself proud

Being Me: Week 5 - Putting it in motion

January theme - The best time for new beginnings is now

This year I celebrated my 16th year smoke free...

I am proud that I chose to do something and followed through. And when I look back I can see how that one change has transformed my life in ways I would have never imagined. A shift that continues to teach me the value of believing in yourself while taking small steps to advance.

Part of the reason we need goals, intentions and the desire for something new, is because of the journey they take us on. New discoveries set the pace, moving you in a different direction as you uncover all you are capable of.  As the days slip by, like they always do, you will find a renewed sense of growth.

As a smoker, running had never been on my list of goals, however, once I quit smoking, that opportunity revealed itself.  And within that one change, the direction of my life shifted.

Today running is a huge part of my life, something I consistently work to improve. It is not only my exercise, but also a form of therapy that provides the time and space to unravel the looping thoughts that can derail me. Running also provides the opportunity to experience new places, time in nature and pride in each accomplishment. But none of those things could have happened had I not taken that first step.

What steps are you willing to take?
