Fall 5k race

October 3, 2010

Today Chelsea and I ran a 5K that was to benefit the Michelle's leading star foundation, which was started by Michelle's family.

It was cold and threatening rain and I was a little nervous about spending a cold morning running in the rain!  But as it turned out, the rain held off and it was just cold, which is not a problem when your running, because soon you will warm up!

Eight months ago I ran my first 5K.  It was the Frosty 5k in February and while the weather was a bit more brutal, my time has decreased noticeably!  In 8 months time I've gone from a 37 minute 5k to a 28 minute 5k!  My best run to date was this one today!  My goal was to run it in under 30 minutes and it was a tough run that I had to push myself the entire way, remembering that running is as much a mental sport as it is a physical one!

My age group was some tough competition and I did not place in the top 3 but Chelsea ended up in first place for her age group and we ran almost the entire race together.  Our official times are not up yet, but I'm extremely proud of us both for each race we improve!

and I'm looking for more races to fill my 2010 calendar!
