IFL: Week One - Resolve to

January 1, 2020

We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room-by-room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws, but  for potential.

Instructions for life: Week One

Theme: Resolve to

Every year we resolve for things to be different, raising my hand too. We create lists, goals and resolutions that we have every intention to see through, yet somehow by the next week our vision gets blurry. Did I really intend to do all of those things?

I love goal setting, and January 1st for me is just one more opportunity to refresh the way I see the world, and how I can make a difference participating in it.

This year as a part of my writing (habit) I wish to instill, I have created 52 weeks of Instructions for life. Weekly blog posts to firstly, keep me writing, while also staying on course with my goals and visions for the year ahead.

After choosing my word, Strengthen, for 2020, I knew it would be a way for me to strengthen and improve many areas of my life. These are not goals with an end in mind, but instead lifetime goals that develop into habits. Taking care of my body and mind, marriage and family and creating intentional time to cultivate the things I love are part of my priorities for the coming year.

I believe the biggest reason to set goals is to have an aim for where you see yourself in the future. The changes you want to see bring guidance and intention. No direction makes each year look the same. Once you create a path towards your something new, you begin to line up the arrows in the direction you need to move.

I am so excited to begin 2020!

January Book of the bible: Mark

Bible Verse for January

Mark 11:24-25

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
