Being Me - A 52 week Soul Searching Journey

November 11, 2018

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist

What are your plans for 2019?

Choosing a word to help define my year, creating a writing practice, mindfulness and of course running are just a few of the details I want to explore deeper. 2018 provided extraordinary growth with intentional living, and I love that feeling of accomplishment as I look back.

A few years ago, around my 52nd birthday I completed 52 weeks of gratitude. This goal created the habit of writing weekly  while keeping gratitude in the forefront of my thoughts. After that, I decided to focus on writing in different ways and as I plan my goals for the coming year I realize I accomplished more writing with that weekly accountability than I have with any other writing practice.

After following the creative blog Words of me and her 52 weeks of being me, with weekly stories, ideas and prompts I realized a similar idea could incorporate the habit of writing with a soul searching journey.

For myself, a list of goals and intentions provides a creative way to stay on track and inspired. But this year, instead of the usual weight loss and running goals, which always seem to make the list, I decided to focus on Being Me with meaningful themes and prompts.

Join me on this exploration of Being Me, a soul searching journey to discover the person we are meant to be while striving towards the goals and habits to strengthen mind, body, and soul with both courage and inspiration. Because before you know it, another year will have slipped away.

Here are the themes for each month:

  • January - The best time for new beginnings is now
  • February - Before anything else, find yourself, be yourself and love yourself
  • March - All you need is tea and warm socks
  • April - Water your roots so your soul can blossom
  • May -  The difference between a flower and a weed is judgment
  • June - Believe you can and your halfway there
  • July - Bold stripes, bright stars, brave hearts
  • August - We are who we choose to be
  • September - Sometimes we can learn and study & know, and sometimes we have to believe, trust and hope
  • October - We can't become what we want by remaining what we are
  • November - Small seeds of gratitude will provide a harvest of hope
  • December - Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of hope
